ImPACT Baseline Testing — The Industry Standard in Concussion Care
Concussions can be difficult to evaluate by symptoms alone. ImPACT is a computerized neurocognitive test that establishes a personal baseline of your athlete's memory, reaction time, and cognitive function before injury occurs. If a concussion happens, we compare post-injury results directly against that baseline giving us an additional clinical tool to help inform return-to-play and return-to-learn decisions alongside a full medical evaluation.

Pre-Participation Exams (PPE)
Before student-athletes can practice or compete under WIAA (Washington Interscholastic Activities Association) rules, they're required to have a sports physical — valid for 24 months — on file with their school. This exam includes a complete health history, a cardiopulmonary evaluation, and a sport-specific orthopedic screening to help confirm an athlete is physically ready to safely participate.
We go beyond the standard requirement. Every PPE with Dr. Lockhart includes a Kardia 6L cardiac screening — a 6-lead ECG that captures a more detailed view of heart rhythm than a standard exam alone, and isn't typically included in a routine PPE. This added layer of cardiac screening can help identify irregularities such as atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, or tachycardia, giving families additional peace of mind before their athlete steps onto the field.
