Dr. John Lockhart, owner and founder of Lockhart Sports Medicine. He's ready to assist you in evaluation and treatment of injuries, joint pain, and concussion. Office on seventh Avenue in downtown Kirkland.

Meet John Lockhart, MD

Born and raised in the heart of the Midwest in Illinois, Dr. Lockhart grew up with a passion for sports — excelling in baseball, football, soccer, wrestling, and more. That drive carried him to the University of Illinois as a Division I scholarship athlete, where he became a three-time All-American and NCAA national champion.

That competitive experience shapes how he practices medicine today. Dr. Lockhart has been the injured athlete on the sideline — he understands not just the physical toll of an injury, but the frustration, fear, and urgency that come with it.

After earning his undergraduate degree, he pursued his medical degree at Rush University in Chicago, followed by a pediatric residency and chief residency at the Cleveland Clinic, and a sports medicine fellowship in Akron, Ohio. He then spent 14 years as an attending physician in the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Seattle Children's, caring for young athletes and deepening his expertise in pediatric and adolescent sports injuries.

With his many years of experience, Dr. Lockhart combines that firsthand athletic experience with rigorous medical training to provide compassionate, individualized care to young athletes and active children — the same kind of attentive, unhurried care he wished he'd had every time he was the one on the training table.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Lockhart is dad to three kids who keep him busy on fields, courts, and everywhere in between. He's a familiar face at local youth sports events, actively supporting teams in the community, and when he gets a free afternoon, you'll likely find him out on the water or hiking the various trails in the Pacific Northwest.
